Kihon (Basic Movements)

Kihon (基本) refers to the fundamental techniques of Tenshinryu. This is an important section that forms the core of the technique. In Tenshinryu, there is a teaching that says, “Build a strong foundation before constructing the castle (土台固めて城築け Dodai katamete shiro kizuke)”. Kihon is truly the foundation of martial arts, and without mastering it, one produces techniques that are as useless as a castle built on sand, mere facades that are fake and lead to stagnation without progress.

Giho (Techniques)

Keikoho (Training Method)

Tenshinryu offers a wide variety of unique and original training programs. It not only enhances physical abilities and technical skills from multiple angles but also aims to elevate techniques to a practical, combat-ready level.  

Shosa To Reiho (Samurai Behavior And Etiquette)

At the core of all techniques lies the culture and customs of the Edo period, particularly those of the samurai class. Without mastering the manners and movements rooted in this tradition, one cannot fully understand or effectively utilize the techniques.

Tenshinryu And Samurai Philosophy

In the present day, learning traditional techniques requires the study of traditional culture. This is often done through textual learning.
