TENSHINRYU ONLINE has introduced a unique Den-i system as a new small step in Tenshinryu.
This is being introduced for the convenience of training, as, as mentioned above, it is extremely difficult to obtain the traditional transmissions in this day and age.
The system is still in the process of being constructed, so I cannot give you an exact number, but the plan is to reach a stage equivalent to Shokyo in around 15 steps.
This means that we have added numbers between the transmissions, calling them Den-no-Ichii (伝壱位), Den-no-Nii (伝弐位), Den-no-Sani (伝参位), etc.
About the Exam
In TENSHINRYU ONLINE, in order to increase motivation for training and to prove that a certain level has been reached, exams are held for each rank and a rank is awarded.
However, exams are not mandatory. Exams and rank awards are only available to those who wish to take them. Even if you do not take the exam or do not pass the exam, your training menu will automatically progress to the next level as you spend more time studying.
Also, because Tenshinryu is an extremely difficult style to master, exams are not held in the sense of “testing whether you can pass or not.”
Holding exams is a significant burden for the style.
Therefore, Tenshinryu does not hold so-called “exams to fail” for the purpose of selection, but rather “exams with the assumption that you will pass.”
Only those who the instructor judges to have reached a certain level after observing their daily training are eligible to take the exam.
This means that the exams are held with the assumption that they will pass. Students who have qualified to take the exam will not fail unless they make a serious mistake.
Once they have been judged to have practiced sufficiently and have thoroughly reviewed the exam techniques intensively as part of their exam preparation, they can obtain the exam qualification and take the exam. On the other hand, if your training is insufficient, you will not be eligible to take the exam, no matter how many years of training you have had.

TENSHINRYU ONLINE Gold Member: 50$
Currently, TENSHINRYU ONLINE Royal Members can take the test for free. Gold Members must pay 50 $.
However, as the number of students increases in the future, there is a possibility that Royal Membership will become a paid service and the price for Gold Membership will increase.
About the exam content
The exam can be done in front of the Shike or via Zoom.
First, on the day of the exam, various basics, training methods, etiquette, and behavior will be reviewed before the exam. This is a kind of warm-up exercise.
Then, all the techniques of the relevant training rank will be performed in a continuous manner in Kaisyo 楷書 (Syu 守) Jyo (序 slow).
If there are any mistakes in the content or if the examiner has any doubts, the examiner may ask you to repeat certain techniques additionally.
Next, all the techniques of the previous training rank will be performed in a continuous manner in Sosyo 草書 (Ri 離) Kyu (急 quickly). (Since Den-no-Ichii is the first stage, this test does not include this content.)
If there are any mistakes in the content or if the examiner has any doubts, the examiner may ask you to repeat certain techniques additionally.
All postures and behaviors, including walking, sitting, and waiting, will be tested from the start of the exam.
Regarding pass/fail
You will be notified on the spot whether you pass or fail the exam.
If you fail, you can take the test again if you correct the relevant parts.About the training test
If you pass, you will be awarded your license at a later date.
Currently, we handwrite licenses, but if it becomes difficult in the future, we may switch to printing them.
